USECATALOG Command
USECATALOG Command
The USECATALOG command brings restored catalog files back into use by the virtual
disk process (the virtual disk process must be in the UP SPECIAL state). Additional
information, regarding the recovery of catalog files is found under
logical-filename
is the logical file name of the restored catalog file.
physical-filename
is the physical file name of the restored catalog file.
ZOT Command
The ZOT command purges a logically named file when the physical volume is
unavailable. To use this command, the virtual disk process must be in the UP state.
logical-filename
is the logical file name of the file to be purged.
ZOT Command Considerations
When a file is restored from tape, the RESTORE program sends the virtual disk
process a PURGE request followed by a CREATE request to enable the file to be
placed on the physical volume. If the physical volume is unavailable, the restore
operation cannot finish because the PURGE request cannot be issued to the disk
process for a file on a nonexistent disk volume.
The ZOT command removes the file name entry from the Audited Name Table
(ANT) to enable a response to the PURGE request (in this case, Error 11,
FENOTFOUND), which allows the RESTORE operation to finish.
This command can be used to delete ANT file entries that refer to physical disks
that have been removed from the system. See also
