Horizontal binning
Definition
In horizontal binning adjacent horizontal pixels in a line are combined in
pairs.
2 x horizontal binning: 2 pixel signals from 2 horizontal neighboring pixels
are combined.
Light sensitivity
This means that in horizontal binning the light sensitivity of the camera is
also increased by a factor of two (6 dB). Signal to noise separation
improves by approx. 3 dB. Horizontal resolution is lowered, depending on the
model.
Horizontal
resolution
Horizontal resolution is lowered, depending on the model.
Format_7 Mode_1
By default and without further remapping use Format_7 Mode_1 for
2 x horizontal binning.

Note
L
The image appears horizontally compressed in this mode
and does no longer show true aspect ratio.
If horizontal binning is activated the image may appear to
be over-exposed and must eventually be corrected.
