Using presets

The current configuration (configuration 0) can be saved as a preset in any one of

32 preset memory addresses. Up to 26 of those presets can be selected from the

front panel to be either saved or retrieved. Global preset locations 1 through 14

are assigned to the input buttons. Global presets 15 through 26 are assigned to

the output buttons. Global presets 27 through 32 are available via the RS-232 and

Ethernet links only.
Figure 3-5 shows the presets associated with the input and output button

configuration of the MPX Plus 866 A.

Figure 3-5 — Preset locations

When a preset is retrieved from memory, it becomes the current configuration if it is

a global ties preset or part of the current configuration if a partial preset.

N

• When presets are saved from the front panel, only the audio and video ties

are stored.

Audio gain and volume settings are not saved as a global ties preset.

The video format (composite or S-video) for outputs 11 through 14 are
not saved as a global ties preset.

• Saving global ties presets is protected when front panel

lock mode 2

is selected. See “Setting the front panel Locks (Executive modes)” on
page 3-44.

• When presets are recalled from the front panel, any signal processing

adjustments that were saved as part of the preset (under DSP Configurator
control only) are recalled and overwrite the current audio settings.

• Presets cannot be viewed from the front panel unless recalled as the current

configuration. Presets can be viewed using Extron’s Windows-based DSP
Configurator program or Matrix Switchers Control Program. See chapter 5,
Switcher Software”,
for more details.

• The current configuration and all presets are stored in non-volatile memory.

When power is removed and restored, the current configuration is still active
and all presets are retained.

• When a global ties preset is recalled, it replaces the current configuration,

which is lost unless it is also stored as a preset. The recalled preset overwrites
all of the current configuration ties in favor of the preset configuration ties.

• When a partial preset is recalled, it overwrites that portion of the current

configuration addressed by the preset, leaving the rest unchanged.
