IPDirector metadata mapping issue handling
It may happen that a source sequence metadata mapped to an IPDirector user field is of an incompatible type. A warning
popup is displayed at the time of the ingest.
Figure 99: Metadata mapping warning popup.
The popup has a link to the "IPDirectorMetadataMapping.log" file located in "C:\ProgramData\OpenCube Tech-
nologies\OpenCube ENGSoft\log\"
where descriptions of all recent metadata mapping issues are listed.
An entry in the log looks like this:
Wed Dec 19 14:26:11 2012
IPDirector ingest of
SourceClip.mxf
with profile
News
has raised following errors:
Metadata parsing error of
"Hold Date"
: cannot convert
"Clip Name (IMX50_50i)"
to a date.
where
SourceClip.mxf
is the name of the sequence where the error occurred,
News
is the name of the profile used to ingest,
"Hold Date"
is the name of the IPDirector user field and
"Clip Name (IMX50_50i)"
is the name and value of the source
sequence metadata that does not fit.
If such an issue occurs, the ingest will be performed anyway but the erroneous user fields will be blanked out.
12.4 Consolidation
The consolidation feature allows you to glue/merge multiple sequences into one.
To consolidate sequences, simply select them in the explorer window and click on
to launch the consolidation oper-
ation. You can consolidate all of the browsed material by clicking on
.
The sequences are consolidated in the order in which they have been selected in the explorer window.
The TC in and the metadata of the consolidated clip is the TC in and the metadata of the first sequence in the consolidation
list.
ê
You can only consolidate sequences that have the same characteristics. Heterogeneous sequences will not be
consolidated. An error dialog will appear when you drop heterogeneous sequences for consolidation in the ingest
stack.
The consolidation feature is not available in Auto-Ingest.
The consolidation feature allows for the merging of subclips (marked for subclip in the ENGSoft Player or the result of a pre-
vious subclip). On LongGop sequences (such as XDCAM HD422 sequences), the consolidated clip may present one or more
of the following artifacts:
- Additional frames at clip transitions and at the end of the consolidation may appear. Consequently, the duration of the
consolidation clip may be greater than its sum of the individual parts.
- Frame lags or macroblocks may be visible during clip transitions.
