Purpose of This Guide
This guide describes how to administer the Master Console Center (MCC).
Users of This Guide
This manual is primarily intended to be read by the administrator of the
MCC. The following list details the skills and experience required by the
administrator:
ƒ Trained in MCC use and administration.
ƒ Unix experience, preferably Linux.
ƒ Basic network concepts and administration knowledge.
ƒ X-windows familiarity.
ƒ Hardware administration knowledge (if MCC server is installed).
The following list highlights the administrator’s main responsibilities:
ƒ Act as primary contact for MCC support between VISARA and
customer.
ƒ Interact with various Enterprise systems administrators of legacy,
distributed, and network systems.
ƒ Assign and create MCC users and login users. Create and maintain
security groups. Assign users to security groups.
ƒ Change MCC user passwords and privileges.
ƒ Start and restart the MCC system.
ƒ Shut down the MCC system.
ƒ Back up the system.
ƒ Manage MCC configuration files.
ƒ Test and implement scripts.
ƒ Log file maintenance.
ƒ Troubleshooting.
ƒ MCC software and maintenance.
ƒ License key administration.
ƒ Configure MCC X-terminals.
ƒ Set up and modify OS groups.
ƒ Set up and maintain SNMP, if required.
ƒ Set/reset MCC date and time.
