This chapter explains how to use the RFID factory installed option.
The 9906 printer with RFID has been engineered to program (encode) an RFID (Radio
Frequency Identification) label (commonly called “RFID tags”) before the label’s format is
printed. RFID tags contain an embedded RFID inlay (chip and antenna).
RFID is only available using die cut or black mark supplies. We do not recommend using
Batch Separators or Skip Index with RFID supplies. A printer with RFID can print
standard (non-RFID) supplies.
The printer supports Class 1 Generation 2 (C1Gen2) protocol encoding.
RFID supplies can be damaged by static electricity. Ground yourself by touching
metal, such as the printer’s metal base, before handling the supplies.
The UHF radio operates in the 902 – 928 MHz frequency range in accordance with FCC
Rules and Regulations.
Refer to the 9906 RFID Application Notes for information about programming an RFID
tag.
To access the RFID settings, from the Main Menu select Setup, then RFID.
