Paper Setting Chapter 1: Preparation for Use

Paper Setting
Make settings for paper loaded on each tray. You can modify the paper settings by pressing
[Paper Setting] from the MACHINE screen or the COPY screen. Both [Paper Setting] buttons
have same functions.
The following two modes to set paper are provided. The first one is to recall a registered paper
setting. The other one is to set paper for each tray individually.
Items in Paper Setting
You can set the following items in [Paper Setting] for the trays.

• Color Density
• [Paper Type] selects the paper type to be used.
• [Paper Profile Name] is displayed when a registered paper
setting is recalled.
• Selecting [Standard] for [Paper Size] automatically detects
the paper size loaded in a selected tray. When selecting
[Custom] or [Tab Paper], you need to specify the size for
each.
• [Weight] selects one of 9 options.
• [Both Sides Adj.] corrects misalignment of printing posi-
tions in duplex printing. [Registration Loop], [Chart Adjust-
ment], and [Zoom/Image Shift] are provided.
• [Curl Adjustment] corrects the curl of output paper. Two
methods, Mechanical and Humidification, are provided.
• [Air Assist] adjusts the amount of air blown from the air
nozzle.
• [Thickness] is specified to calculate the amount of paper
remaining in a tray more precisely.
• [Process Adjustment] sets various adjustment items.
• [Color Density] makes the density adjustment for paper
loaded in a selected tray using the density sensor
attached to Relay Unit RU-508.
• When selecting a paper type, four types of coated paper cannot be selected if
[Weight] is set from 64 g/m
2
to 80 g/m
2
.
• Main body trays (Trays 1 to 3) cannot be loaded with paper of the weight 301 g/m
2
to 350 g/m
2
.
• [Air Assist] is displayed when a tray of Paper Feeder Unit PF-704 (Trays 4 to 9), a
tray of Paper Feeder Unit (with scanner) PF-705 (Trays 4 to 6), or the cover tray (PB)
of Perfect Binder PB-503 is selected. Main body trays (Trays 1 to 3) are not provided
with the Air Assist function.
• [Curl Adjustment] is displayed for the machine mounted with Relay Unit RU-508.
[Humidifier Setting] of [Curl Adjustment] can be set to ON/OFF when Relay Unit RU-
508 is mounted with Humidifier HM-101.
• [Thickness] is displayed when the machine is mounted with Hard Disk Kit HD-514
and Image Controller IC-601.
• [Process Adj.] requires a service setting to be enabled in Paper Setting.
• [Color Density] is available when the machine is mounted with Relay Unit RU-508
and [Yes] is selected for [Use Color Density Control] provided on the ADJUSTMENT
screen.
• [PI 1] and [PI 2] are paper settings provided for upper/lower trays of the post inserter
mounted on Folding Unit FD-503 or upper/lower trays of Post Inserter PI-502
mounted on Finisher FS-612.
• [PB] is a paper setting provided for the cover tray of Perfect Binder PB-503.
