sending frames. Possible values for this parameter
are:

none No

flow

control.

transmit

Flow control when transmitting

frames.

receive

Flow control when receiving frames.

both

Flow control when both transmitting

and receiving frames.

backpressure

Activates and deactivates backpressure on the port.
This parameter only applies to ports operating in
half-duplex mode. Backpressure is used by a port to
control the flow of ingress packets. A port forces a
collision to stop an end node from transmitting data.
A collision occurs when two end nodes attempt to
transmit data using the same data link at the same
time. Values are:

enable Enables

backpressure.

disable Disables

backpressure.

mdimode

Sets the wiring configuration of the port. Possible
values are:

mdi

Sets the port’s configuration to MDI.

mdix

Sets the port’s configuration to MDI-X.

auto

Sets the port’s wiring configuration to
either MDI or MDI-X, depending on the
end node connected to the port. This is
the default setting. This setting is not
available if you disable Auto-
Negotiation and set the port’s speed
and duplex settings manually.

renogotiation

Prompts the port to renegotiate speed and duplex

mode with the end node. This parameter is only
effective when the port is configured for Auto-
Negotiation. It can be useful if you believe a port
needs to renegotiate speed and duplex mode with
the end node. The parameter’s one option, AUTO,
must always be used with the parameter.

softreset

Resets the port. This option is useful in situations

where a port is experiencing a problem establishing
a valid connection to the end node. The reset takes
less than a second to complete. The port’s current
