Checking the Backplane Version
The first step to upgrading the AT-SBx3112 Chassis from AT-SBx31CFC
to AT-SBx31CFC960 Controller Fabric Cards is to determine the version
of the backplane in the unit. This step is important because early versions
of the backplane cannot support two operational AT-SBx31CFC960 Cards
at the same time. If you were to install two new controllers in a chassis with
this type of backplane, one of the controller cards would not function,
which would reduce the backplane bandwidth to 20Gbps from 40Gbps for
each Ethernet line card slot.
You can determine the backplane type by examining the serial number of
the chassis. The number is provided on a label on the back panel of the
unit. Refer to Figure 153.

You can also view the serial number by entering the SHOW SYSTEM
command from a local or remote management session. Refer to Figure
154 on page 226.
