Running the Easy Startup Application
The AT-SBx31CFC960 Controller Fabric Card has an Easy Startup
application that lets you configure some of the basic management
parameters of the controller card with a web browser. The application lets
you assign an IP address configuration to the card and configure the
Telnet server and SNMP so that you can immediately begin to remotely
configure the chassis from a management workstation on your network.
Here are the parameters and features you can configure with the
application:
Release activation and feature licenses - The application
determines whether the AlliedWareNSP management software on
the controller card requires release activation or feature licenses
and, if necessary, prompts for the licenses.
Note
The Easy Startup application does not display the release activation
license prompt for a factory-shipped controller card because the
management software is pre-activated and does not require a
license.
For further information about licenses, contact Allied Telesis
technical support.
Security-officer user account - The application lets you create a
new security-officer user account with a usernamer and password
to replace the default account that comes with the management
card.
IP address configuration - You need to assign an IP address
configuration to the controller card to manage the chassis remotely
with Telnet or SNMP, or implement any of the features in Table 21
on page 74. The chassis uses the IP address configuration to
identify itself to other network devices. The management card can
have only one IP address configuration, which consists of an IP
address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
Management access method - The Easy Startup application lets
you specify the manner in which the management card is to
access your network to support remote Telnet and SNMP
management, and the features in Table 21 on page 74. There are
two management access methods. The first method is the NET
MGMT port on the front panel of the card. If you select this method,
you need to connect the port to a switch or router on your network
after performing the Easy Startup application.
The second management access method is referred to as in-band
management. Here, the management card communicates with
