Combining XP Continuous Access Journal with LUN Manager
LUN Manager operations do not affect XP Continuous Access Journal operations. You can also
assign volumes under secure ports and/or assigned to host groups or iSCSI targets to XP Continuous
Access Journal pairs. You can use LUN Manager to protect volumes assigned to XP Continuous
Access Journal pairs.
NOTE:
A UNIX or PC server cannot access XP Continuous Access Journal secondary data volumes
unless the pair is split.
Combining XP Continuous Access Journal and XP Performance Control
Initiator ports in the primary array do not support the HP StorageWorks XP Performance Control
option.
Combining XP Continuous Access Journal and XP Business Copy
You can use XP Continuous Access Journal and XP Business Copy together in the same array and
on the same volumes to provide multiple copies of data at the primary and/or remote sites.
describes host pair status reporting for XP Continuous Access Journal volumes,
XP Business Copy volumes, and XP Continuous Access Journal/XP Business Copy shared volumes.
shows the currency of the data on a shared XP Continuous Access Journal/XP
Business Copy volume based on XP Continuous Access Journal and XP Business Copy pair status.
•
For shared XP Continuous Access Journal/XP Business Copy volumes, the XP Continuous Access
Journal pair status is reported to the host if you query the XP Continuous Access Journal primary
or secondary data volume. To obtain the XP Business Copy pair status, query the XP Business
Copy pair's P-VOL.
•
XP Business Copy supports multiple S-VOLs for each P-VOL. If you issue a pair status query to
an XP Business Copy P-VOL (for example, pairdisplay), the status of only one XP Business
Copy pair is reported (the pair with the S-VOL having the lowest LDEV ID). To obtain the pair
status for the XP Business Copy pairs with other S-VOLs, you must direct the host query to the
specific S-VOL using the S-VOL's LDEV ID in the host command. The XP Business Copy displays
the port, TID, LUN, LDEV ID and XP Business Copy pair status of all S-VOLs associated with
a P-VOL.
