Processing task commands
Task command processing is a Storage Mirroring feature that allows you to insert and run tasks at various points during the
replication of data. Because the tasks are user-defined, you can achieve a wide variety of goals with this feature. For example,
you might insert a task to create a snapshot or backup on the target after a certain segment of data from the source has been
applied on the target.
1.
To process a task, you must first enable task command processing. Right-click a source machine and select
Properties
.
2.
Select the
Setup
tab.
3.
By default,
Enable Task Command Processing
is disabled. Mark the field to enable it.
4.
Since task command processing inserts a task inline with current replication, you must have an existing connection.
Establish a connection according to
Establishing a new connection
on page 6-7, if you do not already have one established.
5.
To insert tasks, use the DTCL
queuetask
command by following the text client instructions under
Processing task
commands
on page 8-11. You may skip steps 1-3 in that section since you have already completed them through the
Management Console.
