Batches
A batch is a group of samples that will be processed using a single
template. Batches consist of templates, lots, and samples for
acquisition and can span more than one plate.
Templates are provided by the assay kit manufacturer via CD ROM
or floppy disk. When creating a new batch, you must use a template.
Information that you enter does not override or change the template.
The kit manufacturer includes reagent assays in your assay kit. The
system requires you to provide information about the reagent assays
you want to use in the batch.
A batch can include more than one plate. If you run out of wells on
the microtiter plate, another plate appears for additional samples. The
new plate appears to the immediate right of the existing plate image
on the screen with a dark line between the adjacent columns of the
two plates.
Templates
When creating batches or multi-batches, you must select a template
to associate with the batch.
Templates are pre-defined sequences of commands that an kit
manufacturer has determined must be performed during each batch
acquisition.
Import a Template
Your assay kit provides a template on a diskette specific to the kit.
You need to import new templates to the system only once.
Templates can include standards or controls, maintenance
commands, and patient acquisition commands.
To import a template from diskette:
1. Insert the kit’s diskette into the disk drive.
2. Click the Import Template button on the toolbar. This dialog
box appears.
