Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper maintenance and cleaning of the Luminex 100 IS is required
Read and follow all instructions in this section. For your
convenience, a maintenance log form is included at the end of this
chapter.
Do not remove the system cover under any circumstances!
Daily
If the system is powered on but idle for more than four hours, click
the Maintenance tab. Click Warmup. Wait 30 minutes for the
instrument and the optics system to warm up.
Before Running Samples
‹ Before you run samples:
1. Turn the instrument on, if necessary. The system begins warming
automatically.
2. Verify the levels of sheath fluid and waste fluid.
3. Verify that the sheath container cap is tightened.
4. Click Alcohol Flush with 70% isopropanol.
5. Click Wash twice with sheath fluid.
6. Check that the XYP instrument sampling probe has been
vertically aligned for the plate used in the kit.

Warning: When analyzing potentially infectious biological
samples on the instrument, follow standard laboratory safety
practices. These safety precautions should also be taken when
cleaning or maintaining the instrument.
