Using the “W
ATER
LOG” Software 3-17
3.2.6 Run Option
There are three basic modes of operation of the “
W
ATER
LOG”. Up to now the “
W
ATER
LOG”
has been operating in the RESET mode. The other two modes of operation are RUN and OFF.
In the RUN mode of operation, the “
W
ATER
LOG” will make a measurement at an interval set
by the Logging Option specified in option 5. The data from the samples will be stored in the
FLASH EEPROM in the “
W
ATER
LOG”. The “
W
ATER
LOG” will enter a low-power mode of
operation to conserve battery power during the wait times. You can cause the “
W
ATER
LOG” to
enter the RUN mode by selecting option 1 as shown in Figure 3-12. You will be asked to verify
the selection to prevent inadvertent operation. With the “
W
ATER
LOG” in the RUN mode, you
can disconnect the interface cable to the sensor and it will continue to operate in the run mode
until manually disabled or battery power is lost. The batteries are designed to operate the unit for
up to five years depending on the sample rate.

Figure 3-12. Run Option
A very useful feature in the “
W
ATER
LOG” Run Option, is the ability to specify a start time.
This feature will allow you to manually select a start time in the next 24 hours. This may be used
to start the logging process at midnight or some other desired time.
