9. Select Adapter Parameters, and press Enter.
10. Select IBM LAN Adapter for Ethernet, and press Enter.
Note
The Ethernet adapter entry will be displayed only if the Interrupt Level set
on the adapter does not conflict with the any Interrupt Level used by the
computer. For example, if your Ethernet adapter is set to interrupt 5 and
you install it on a 43P, the entry for the adapter will not be displayed, and
you will not be able to change the parameters. In this case, you will have
to use a PC or a 40P to change this parameter. Refer to the
System User's
Guide shipped with the computer for a list of the Interrupt-Level (IRQ)
assignments on your system.
11. Select View or Set Parameters, and press Enter.
The system will display the parameters that can be viewed or changed. Those
parameters are shown in Table 25.
The only parameters you can change are the
I/O Port, the Connection Type
and the
Interrupt Level parameters.
12. If you change any parameter, you will have to press the F2 key to save the
new values.
13. If you want to install additional new ISA Ethernet adapters, power-off the
system, and repeat steps 3 through 11 for each new ISA Ethernet adapter you
want to install.
14. Install any adapters that were removed earlier in this procedure.

(10Base2, 10Base5 and so forth).
Interrupt Assignment
Select the Interrupt Request Level (IRQ).
6.8.3 Configuring the Auto 16/4 Token-Ring ISA Adapter
Before the hardware parameters for the new ISA adapter were selected and tested
using the 40p or 43P firmware, you will have to
tell AIX which are the values of
these parameters.
The configuration for Auto 16/4 Token-Ring ISA Adapter requires you to specify the
Interrupt Level, the Bus I/O Address, the Shared Bus Memory Address, the Length
of shared bus memory, the Address of bus memory used for BIOS, and the Ring
Speed. These parameters can assume the following values:
Interrupt Level = 3, 9 or 11
Bus I/O Address = 0xa20, 0xa24, 0xa28, and so on
