Figure 37. SMIT Configuration Menu for Adding an 128-Port Asynchronous ISA Adapter
This configuration menu does not provide the capability to only define the
adapter without attempting to configure it. So, the configuration operation will
fail because the adapter is not yet physically installed on the system. If no Bus
I/O Address conflict are detected, the following message will be displayed:
cxia Defined
Method error (/usr/lib/methods/cfgcxma):
514- 4 Error initializing a device into the kernel.
cxia deleted
It does not matter. You should use this procedure just to make sure that the
selected adapter parameter is correct.
9. If the Bus I/O Addresses are in conflict with another parameter set for another
ISA adapter already installed, the following message will be displayed:
cxia Defined
lsresource : The attribute(s) for some device(s) in the system
could not be resolved.
To resolve conflicts, attribute(s) need to be
modified.
A suggested value for each attribute is provided.
