ALIBRATION
From day to day, and from one consumable change to the
next, toner density may change, ultimately affecting color
consistency. Likewise, it’s often difficult to maintain con-
sistent color between hardware devices. To help ensure
predictable color, the magicolor 2210 offers two methods
of color calibration.
•Automatic Image Calibration
•Color Encore instrument-based calibration software
The magicolor 2210 performs Automatic Image
Calibration
for maintaining color consistency without
user intervention. This function occurs during three states:
•when the printer is turned on
•after printing 100 continuous pages
•during warm-up after the printer has been taken out of
Energy Saver mode
During these states, the printer lays a cyan, magenta, yel-
low, and black patch of toner on the transfer belt. A sensor
on the belt “reads” these patches and sends the data to the
printer’s controller where it is compared with look-up
tables. The tables tell the printer how to re-adjust toner
density to maintain consistent output quality across the
entire tonal range, including highlights, mid-tones, and
shadows.
