Another convenience CrownView provides is easy access
to the consumables usage page, advanced status page, and
job accounting data—all information that can be viewed
and printed for further assessment.
As discussed in the Supplies Monitoring section, the
consumables usage page
details consumable “statistics”
for tracking quantities used. It displays remaining
consumable levels, number and types of pages printed,
and even tracks simplex versus duplex pages.
The advanced status page was originally only accessible by
requesting a printout through the printer’s front panel. Now
users who don’t have physical access to the magicolor 2210
can view the status page through CrownView and immedi-
ately know every default setting available on the printer.
The printer’s job accounting data, which tracks usage
patterns for each print job, can also be retrieved and
reviewed using CrownView. Users can choose more than
30 categories of information and filter the data for specific
auditing purposes. An internal hard disk is required for
job accounting.
To really save time in document production, CrownView
supports direct file printing. Any file supported by a
loaded or standard emulation—including PDF, PostScript,
PCL, TIFF, CGM, and text files—can be routed straight to
the printer. No source application or printer drivers are
required. Users simply “browse” their system for the file
using CrownView, then click “print.”
Direct file printing is especially useful for individuals who
download and store PDF files from the Internet. Now they
can just point to those files through CrownView, and,
without opening Adobe

Acrobat, the magicolor 2210 will
print the file.
