Businesses that operate from a DEC or TCP/IP environ-
ment can purchase the Crown for DECnet-TCP/IP net-
work interface. It has a 10BaseT connector and supports
DECnet and TCP/IP Ethernet protocols—both of which
are simultaneously active. The DECnet protocol is
OpenVMS Phase IV and V compatible. The TCP/IP
protocol supports lpd, ftp, SNMP, telnet, and raw TCP
printing port. Using this interface for DECnet connectivity
requires purchasing VMS host software.

To chain external hard disks from the printer, the optional
SCSI

interface must be installed. The printer’s interface

panel offers an open slot specifically for this 50-pin SCSI
interface. Once installed, up to four external hard disks,
including Iomega Zip and Jaz drives, can be added for
data storage.

For translating and printing IBM mainframe and
midrange IPDS and non-IPDS (SCS) data streams,
MINOLTA-QMS offers several third-party interface
options. These connect to the magicolor 2210 via parallel.
