Today’s business workgroups are often as diverse in oper-
ating systems and applications as they are in individual
personalities! For this reason, the magicolor 2210 was
designed as a versatile network color laser printer that
supports common page description languages, as well as
languages needed for more specialized applications.
To interpret the language used by a file’s data stream, the
printer uses one of the “productivity” features of Crown
III technology called ESP (Emulation Sensing Processor).
This auto-sensing feature enables users to switch between
software applications without reconfiguring the printer for
a specific language.

The PostScript language that first gained popularity
almost two decades ago in the graphic arts market has
now become a primary language in all markets. The
magicolor 2210 uses a resident PostScript 3 emulation that
supports 600 and 1200 dpi and includes 137 resident fonts.
The printer’s PCL 6 (v. 2) emulation is actually a combina-
tion of several PCL versions, including PCL XL, 5e, and 5c.
MINOLTA-QMS’ PCL 6 emulation, which supports both
600 and 1200 dpi, is designed to imitate the HP LaserJet
4000, and LaserJet 4500. Included with the PCL 6 emulation
are 76 fonts.
