•Printer-Based Electronic Collation:

Instead of transmit-

ting a multiple page print job several times over the
network to get the number of “copies” required, simply
tell the magicolor 2210 the copy count and send the job
once. The printer then uses Crown III controller archi-
tecture to turn out the number of sets required with all
the pages in the proper order. This method of document
reproduction significantly improves network through-
put and frees host resources for other tasks. With an
internal hard disk, users can extend the printer’s RAM-
based collating capabilities.

•Thumbnail (n-up) Printing:

Great for space conserva-

tion, archiving documents, and saving paper, thumbnail
printing lets users print multiple page images on a
single sheet of paper. This feature is accessed through
the printer driver, and a hard disk is recommended for
optimum results.

•Background Printing:

This feature extracts an image

(such as artwork, logo, or form) stored in the printer’s
memory and merges it with variable data sent to the
printer. The printer driver uses DOC (Document Option
Commands) to store and recall the images.

For corporate users, background printing is a
convenient, plain paper method for performing forms
printing and will significantly reduce unnecessary work
by storing commonly used data at the printer.

•Watermarks:

Using the printer driver, users can add

common text watermarks, such as “CONFIDENTIAL”
and “DRAFT” to a document—or create one of their
own. The driver includes selections for adjusting the
watermark’s size, position on the page, font, and shade.

•Automatic Jam Recovery:

When this mode is activated,

if a paper jam occurs in the printer, the magicolor 2210
uses the Compile-Ahead feature of Crown III technology
to automatically recover and reprint those pages after the
jammed paper has been removed. Resending the job is
not necessary!
