software first translates the RGB color to the CIE standard
and then makes the translation to CMYK. This translation
is called color transformation, and maps color from the
monitor to the printed piece. Color management does not
mean all devices will match exactly. It does insure the
closest possible color transformation.
Q
COLOR
technology offers four methods for color match-
ing across devices:
•Q

automatic color correction:
for novice and pro-
fessional color users.
•ColorSync and Windows ICM printer profiles:
for
color professionals.
•Built-in color rendering dictionaries (CRDs):
for
color professionals.
•PANTONE Color tables:
for color professionals.

An ICC-compatible color management system (CMS),
Q
COLOR
automatic color correction
is built into the
magicolor 2210. It can be accessed through the printer
driver or from the printer’s front panel and uses single-
button controls for automatic correction of uncalibrated
RGB or CMYK color files.
As a printer-resident CMS, Q
COLOR
automatic color correc-
tion works well in all computing environments and with
most design, publishing, and office applications. In fact,
Q
COLOR
makes it as easy to get great color from a
PowerPoint presentation as it is from a desktop publishing
application such as QuarkXPress. Its color matching methods
are simple for both inexperienced and professional color
users to navigate.
