configured and much more. They’re also capable of making
real-time modifications to printer settings, such as selecting
finishing options. Password protection can be activated by
the system administrator to prohibit alterations to such
settings.
CrownView can also take a proactive communication role,
notifying users via e-mail paging of any printer offline
error condition. For example, if the magicolor 2210 runs
out of paper or a jam occurs, predetermined addresses
will be immediately informed through the Simple Mail
Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Another message will be sent
after the condition has been cleared.
To use CrownView for e-mail error notification, users
simply access the System Support page from CrownView’s
Home page and set the requested parameters. They can
set the message to be received on any host system—even a
beeper if it supports Internet mail.
