DHCP/WINS S
UPPORT
One last built-in printer management function provided by
the magicolor 2210 is DHCP/WINS support. With Dynamic
Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Windows
Internet Name Service (WINS) support, MINOLTA-QMS
printer set up is simplified. As a protocol that centralizes
and manages the allocation of TCP/IP configuration infor-
mation, DHCP reduces printer administration by automati-
cally assigning the magicolor 2210’s IP address.
As a WINS-compliant device, the IP address of the magicolor
2210 will be transparently mapped to its NetBIOS name
without manual intervention. For the printer user, this
simply means not having to worry about how to make their
computer and printer communicate.
