11.5 Setting the Parameters for Sunny Central Control
11.5.1 Setting the Number of Strings per Measuring Channel
The number of strings per channel for the eight measuring channels can be selected from 1 to 4. The
default setting is "1". The maximum number of strings per channel is limited to 4.
The ideal number of strings for each measuring channel is 2. Nevertheless one can, depending on the
system design, connect more strings in parallel outside the Sunny String-Monitor and append them to
a measuring channel (see section 6.5.3 ”Connecting the Data Cable in the Sunny String-
Monitor”, page 37).
With the parameter "No.of Strings" you can assign all the measuring channels of the
Sunny String‑Monitor to a string number of 1 to 4. This avoids having to set the number of strings for
each of the individual channels, since this is automatically set for all the individual channels.
1. Select the String Monitor Unit you want in the plant tree.
2. Select the "Parameters" tab.
3. Enter the number of PV strings per measuring channel in the parameter fields "No.of Strings 1"
to "No.of Strings 8" or enter the number of PV strings for all the measuring channels in the
"No.of Strings" field.
4. Select [Save].
11.5.2 Setting the Groups
Sunny Central Control allows the individual measuring channels to be subdivided into 4 groups, to
make it possible to compare only those measuring channels which have the same properties.
You can assign all the measuring channels to one group in the field of the "Group String" parameter.
If you wish not to include individual channels from the String Monitor Unit in the string current
monitoring, these must be assigned to the 0 group, since string current monitoring is deactivated for
this group. This way, this measuring channel is not included in the mean value calculation.
1. Select the String Monitor Unit you want in the plant tree.
2. Select the "Parameters" tab.
3. Enter the number of the group for each measuring channel in the parameter fields
"Group String 1" to "Group String 8" or in the "Group String" parameter field, enter the number
of the group for all the measuring channels.
4. Select [Save].
