21.6.8 Budding
Entering a number in Buddying will group the fixture selection into buddies of 2, 3 or 4 etc.
For example, a selection of…..
10 fixtures with “Buddying” set to “2” will be treated as 5 pairs of fixtures.
20 fixtures with “Buddying” set to “2” will be treated as 10 pairs of fixtures.
12 fixtures with “Buddying” set to “3” will be treated as 4 trios of fixtures.
24 fixtures with “Buddying” set to “3” will be treated as 8 trios of fixtures.
The Prev and Next buttons also respect “Buddying”.
For example, if you have 12 fixtures selected and Buddying set to 2:
All

21.6.9 Programming Using Grouping
The following are some practical examples of how sorting and grouping can speed up your
programming.
You have 12 fixtures rigged across the stage and you want to set the colours of the fixtures to
be red, green and blue repeating across the stage.
Select the 12 fixtures and set “Groups of” to 3.
Press Next (this selects fixtures 1,4,7,10) then set the colour to red.
Press Next (this selects fixtures 2,5,8,11) then set the colour to green.
Press Next (this selects fixtures 3,6,9,12) then set the colour to blue.
All 12 fixtures have been programmed.
Grouping can be used when performing fans and applying dynamics (real time effects). See
Fanning and Dynamics for more details.
