Section 3.2- ENGINE OIL PUMP

Oil Pump Disassembly

When removing the oil pump, be careful not to drop the

oil pump drive shaft. When installing the pump, apply engine
oil to the drive gear and shaft. The inner rotor and shaft cannot
be disassembled.

Oil Pump Inspection

Visually inspect oil pump parts for wear and damage.

Inspect the oil pressure regulator valve sliding surfaces and

valve spring. Replace the valve seat, if damaged. Use a feeler
gauge to check (a) rotor tip clearance, (b) outer body to body
clearance, and rotor to straight edge clearance. See Figure
5.
