Surface Scan
This confirms that the read and write functions in all of the disk drive's
partitions are operating correctly when the drive is initialized. In normal
circumstances, set this to "On."
Press
[YES (ENTER)].
"SYS Init.***:* OK ?" appears in the
display. "***:*" refers to the drive's SCSI ID number. For
example, "IDE:0" indicates a internal hard disk.
Press
[YES (ENTER)]
again. "SYS Init.^=*H=::.=, Sure ?" (Really
initialize the disk?) appears in the display.
Press
[YES (ENTER)]
again. If any songs to which Song
Protect has been applied remain on the hard disk, the
messages "Found ProtectSng" and "Init.Continue?" alternate in
the display.
If you wish to save the current song, press
[YES (ENTER)];
if
not, then press
[NO (CANCEL)].
The Surface Scan procedure
takes a certain amount of
time. Be aware that
initializing a drive requires
some time. This is not a
malfundon. For example,
when physical formatting
is turned on, the time
required to format one
2jp
disk is approximately 10
minutes. The progress of
initialization will be shown
in the display. Be sure not
to turn the power off until
initialization is complete.
After the initialization is completed correctly, the VS-890
restarts automatically, and return to Play condition.
