11.3 Specifying the system software for the next router

startup

11.3.1 Establishing the configuration task

Applicable environment

CAUTION

Specify the same system software for the master and slave RPUs. Otherwise, the system does

not function.

After the files are uploaded, you need to instruct the system to use the newly loaded system

software the next time the router is restarted. Nortel recommends that you use the absolute

paths to specify system software of the same version to the master and slave RPUs. The

system uploads the software at the specified path the next time the router is restarted.

Before you specify the system software for the next router startup, prepare the absolute path

of the system software.

11.3.2 Specifying the system software for the next startup of the
master RPU

Do as follows on the router you want to upgrade.

Run:

startup system-software

f i l e - n a m e

This command specifies the packet file for the next startup of the master RPU.
