10.1 Introduction
This chapter describes some common Secure Router 8000 Series maintenance commands,
which you can use when you change the Flexible Interface Card (FIC) or High-speed
Interface Card (HIC), restart the router, or check the operation status of the router. This
chapter includes the following topics:

10.1.1 Device operation management
Device operation management functions include monitoring the running status of the device
and setting of the parameters of the device. The functions fall into the following types:

10.1.2 Electronic label
Through the electronic label, you can query or back up the manufacturing information of the
board and the optical module of the Secure Router 8000 Series. The electronic label supports
hierarchical query and backup of manufacturing information about the boards and optical
modules on the whole chassis or on a specified slot number. The information can be backed
up to the FTP server or the Compact Flash (CF) card of the Secure Router 8000 Series.
10.2 Powering off the FIC/HIC
10.2.1 Establishing the configuration task
Applicable environment
Power off the FIC/HIC in the following situations:
•
FIC/HIC maintenance, for example, dust cleaning
•
FIC/HIC hardware upgrade
•
FIC/HIC failure and replacement
Preconfiguration tasks
Before you power off the FIC/HIC, install and power on the router and ensure that you can
log on to the router.
