These fields are only used when the ticket printer is connected to one of your PC's serial
(COM) ports. Select the baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity and flow control settings for
the serial port. These settings must agree with the corresponding settings for the ticket
printer. It should be documented in your printer manual how to determine and configure
its serial settings.
Device Type
Select your printer type.
Windows Default and Direct to Printer Port are the only two parallel (using ports LPT1,
LPT2 or LPT3) printers available. When Windows Default is specified, all ticket printing
goes through the Windows print spooler and is output to the Windows default printer.
With Direct to Printer Port, ticket printing bypasses Windows completely and data is
sent directly to the parallel port.
Serial (COM1 - COM8) printers require serial port settings.
Windows Printing (RAW) uses Windows to print to a USB printer and will pass
formatting codes to the printer that are contained in the ticket file. Clicking this setting
will cause a list of printers on the system to appear below. Select which printer to use.
This setting may be incompatible with some printers. Use the test window to find out if
your printer works.
Windows Printing (Text) allows printing to any type of printer, but does not pass
formatting codes to the printer. Clicking this setting will cause a list of printers on the
system to appear below. Select which printer to use.
If you don't have a ticket printer, select None from the list.
Line Delay (msec)
This setting is only available for ticket printers connected to a serial port and specifies the
amount of delay, in milliseconds, between each line of data that is sent to the printer.
Some printers cannot handle data as quickly as the PC can send it and will not print
tickets properly unless a line delay is specified. A good rule of thumb is to start this value
at 50 msec and increment by 50 until the ticket prints correctly.
Connector
Select the port, either parallel (LPT1 - LPT3) or serial (COM1 - COM8), that your printer
is connected. The list may contain ports that are not available on your PC. If you attempt
to use an unavailable port, you will receive the error message "Error 68 - Device
Unavailable" or "Error 57 Device I/O error" when you attempt to test the print connection
(see Test button)
