Adjusting Reel Clearance

DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected start-up or fall of raised machine, always stop engine,
remove key, and engage safety props before going under header for any reason. Refer to the combine
operator’s manual for instructions regarding the proper use and storage of header safety props.
1.
If required, adjust outboard reel arms to change
clearance at outboard ends of reel as follows:
a.
Loosen bolt (A).
b.
Turn cylinder rod (B) out of clevis to raise reel and
increase clearance to cutterbar, or turn cylinder rod
into clevis to lower reel and decrease clearance.
c.
Tighten bolt (A).
d.
Repeat at opposite side.

2.
If necessary, adjust center arm lift cylinder stop (A)
to change clearance at inboard ends of reels and
clearance at flex points as follows:
a.
Loosen nut (B).
b.
Turn nut (C) counterclockwise to raise reel and
increase clearance to cutterbar, or clockwise to
lower reel and decrease clearance.
c.
Tighten nut (B).

Reel Frown
The reel has been adjusted at the factory to provide more clearance at the center of the reel than at the ends (‘frown’)
to compensate for reel flexing.
