IDM Technical Reference
Device Support for IDM Features
Due to variations in hardware and software configuration of various HP Networking
devices, not all IDM features are supported on all devices. The following table
indicates IDM functionality supported by device type and minimum software require-
ment, if applicable, at the time this manual was published. Supported features are
marked with an X. Features with a specific minimum software requirement are
indicated by references to footnotes at the bottom of the table. Features not supported
are blank.
Refer to the PCM Web site (www.hp.com/networking/support) for the latest infor-
mation on supported features and devices.
About Switch Support for MAFR and MBV
Support listed for MAFR and MBV in the following table should be used to evaluate
deployment strategies for IDM. These features are particularly important in consid-
ering SNAC implementations. MAFR greatly increases ease of use in such imple-
mentations, and MBV is required wherever uplink switches are used to do MAC
authentication and assign different VLANs to different users authenticating on the
same uplink port. This use of MBV is a common scenario for wireless devices and
switches without an MAFR capability using uplink switches to do registration and/
or authentication.
