A tiering policy can be specified by using a tiering policy information CSV file. In a tiering policy
information CSV file, the following information can be specified:
•
Where data is to be located (tiering policy level)
•
Tier to which new pages are to be assigned (new-page assignment tier)
•
Whether to execute tier relocation

About tiering policy levels
Tiering policy levels indicate categories of tiers in which data can be located. There are six tiering
policy levels, from 0 (default) to 5. If a tiering policy level is specified, data is located in the tier or
tiers with the specified level when tier relocation is performed.
For example, if the tiering policy level of 1 is specified for a volume that has three tiers, all pages on
the volumes are moved to Tier 1, as shown in the following figure. Pages that have been moved will
not be moved to other tiers when tier relocation is performed again.
