3. Connection Cable. Upgrading a welder will require a
serial cable, usually called a serial modem cable
with a DE-9 male and DB-25 female connectors.
Various electronic stores carry this type of cable. To
upgrade the welder through a USB port, a user will
also need a USB-to-Serial adapter, which trans-
forms a USB port into a serial port for computers with
no built-in serial ports. Various electronic stores
carry this type of adapter.
Note: Connection cables are not sold through Lincoln
Electric.
