Identifying the defective CSS component

Open the server (see
"Opening/Closing the server" on page 134

Press the Indicate CSS button on the system board (see Technical Manual
for the system board D2870 on the ServerView Suite DVD 2).
The PRIMERGY Diagnostic LED of the defective CSS component lights up
orange, thereby indicating which CSS component on the system board must
be replaced (see Technical Manual for details).

Replacing a non-hot-plug expansion card
8.2.2.1
Removing a non-hot-plug expansion card

If necessary, remove all cables from the expansion card.

Open the expansion card lock by lifting it up (see pos. #2 in
The expansion card is now mechanically unlocked.

Hold the removal tool by the green handle and pull it out of the PCI slot
together with the expansion card (see pos. #3 in

Do not pull on the expansion card itself.
