Class D Special Current Waveshape
If you elected to test to the EN 61000-3-2:1998
standard, a unit is considered to be class D equipment if
it meets the power consumption limits listed above and
its current waveform matches at least 95 % of a
specified wave shape template. This template is aimed
at ‘capturing’ high crest factor loads that are known to
generate high harmonic currents. The wave shape
template consists of three time domain sections, one for
each 1/3 period of the signal during a positive or
negative half-cycle of the input voltage. The center
section is normalized to, and centered around the peak

current value. The other two sections have a 0.35 times
Ipeak amplitude limit. The actual template is shown in
Figure 5-1.
