3. External Interfaces
The aTCA-N700 has common external interfaces and optional external interfaces
depending on model type. The traffic ports are optionally available either from the front
faceplate or from the RTM faceplate.
3.1. Front Panel
The face plate of the main blade has the following components:
z LED-OOS: Out Of Service indicator
z LED-Power GOOD: Power indicator
z LED-Health: Health indicator
z LED-Fabric Interface: Fabric Interface Link Activity indicator
z LED-Base Interface: Base Interface Link Activity indicator
z LED-HS: Hot Swap indicator
z LED-MGMT LINK/ACT: Management Port Link/ACT indicator
z LED-MGMT SPEED: Management Port Speed indicator
z LED-Service Ports Enable/Act: Service Port indicator
z Console Port #1~#3: serial ports
z USB Port: Connected to LMP
z Management Ethernet Port #1~#2: 10/100/1000BASE-T
z Reset Recess Button: System Reset PUSH switch
z Service Ports #1~#4: Four SFP+ ports for data plane interface

3.1.1. Console Port
Three console serial ports are provided in RJ45 shield connector outlets. One port is
connected to the LMP, which enables access to all the major devices and command
line interface commands for configuration and monitoring. This port is also configured to
be shared with IPMC. Two additional ports are connected to the OCTEON II NPUs.
The serial port configuration is RS232 compatible including XON/XOFF, baud rate,
stop, and start bit setting. The label for the console port is visibly different from the
management Ethernet port to avoid ambiguity that may be caused by the same RJ45
connector type. The pin-out of the serial interface RJ-45 connector is compatible to
Cisco serial port pin out as shown in Table 3-1 and the configuration values in Table 3-
2.
