To create a table field
The example image has a table field comprising a set of line items and a
subtotal/tax/total area. Recognition processes the two separate areas using two
separate Table Formats and decides which one to use on the basis of recognizing a
“Table Format Heading”.
The processing steps Recognition uses for tables can be summarized as follows:
Noise is removed from the entire table area and characters therein are
detected using the “Minimum/Expected/Maximum Character Sizes”
specified for the whole table.
All characters in the table are recognized using the “Weights” and “Allowed
Characters” specified for the whole table.
The recognized characters are matched to the Table Format Headings for each
Table Format to deduce which sections of the table belong to which Table
Format.
Each section is then recognized using “Weights” and “Allowed Characters”
specific to its Table Format.
Table fields are setup by first defining a multi-line field that covers the entire table
area and then defining a number of different Table Formats within the table, each
with their own set of columns definitions.
