13.13.If it is necessary to remove the bearing, use a

bearing puller. See Figure 13.13.

TRANSAXLE: AXLE TUBES

14.1. If brake drum has not already been removed

from the axle tube, perform the following steps:

14.2. Remove the brake drum. See Figure 14.2.

NOTE: On transaxles that have never had the
brake drum removed, there may be a speed nut
on one of the studs. The speed nut is there for
factory assembly and shipping purposes. It can
be removed and discarded.

14.3. Remove the R-shaped clips that hold the brake

actuator to the brake shoes, and remove the
actuator. See Figure 14.3.
