numbered on back of
connector.

Faulty wire.

Faulty controller.

red zone.

If gauge does not move or is not close
to given area, replace instrument
cluster.

If gauge is close to the given area, then
check continuity of gauge wire to
controller. Unplug instrument cluster
connector at controller. Check
continuity.

If no continuity, repair or replace wire
harness as needed.

If continuity, replace controller.

Battery gauge not
working (other
instrument cluster
gauges and lights ok).

Faulty battery gauge.

Note: If gauge does not
return to the minimum
position after turning vehicle
off, then the gauge is most
likely bad. The gauge test
here is for a gauge that will
not move up from the
minimum position.

Note: Pin locations are
numbered on back of
connector.

Faulty wire.

Set parking brake.

Pry cluster from dash. Turn ignition
switch to an on position. With cluster
plugged up, use a 100-ohm resistor to
jump across pins 16 and 12. Gauge
should rise to between 3/4 and full
charge.

If gauge does not move or is not close
to the given range, replace instrument
cluster.

If gauge is close to the given range,
then check continuity of gauge wire to
controller. Unplug instrument cluster
connector and large twist lock
connector at controller. Check
continuity.
