PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSES
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Motor will not operate
(lights and charger ok).
Warning:
Use care when
checking motor and
battery voltages, 48VDC
can be very dangerous.
Note: For motor to work
the following must be
present at controller:
battery power, switch
on, accelerator pot
signal, brake switch
signal, (brake not on),
charger off.
Check fault indication.
Battery problem.
Motor fault.
Accelerator pot bad.
No voltage to accelerator pot.
Contactor fault.
Charger inhibit
Refer to fault indication table.
Check battery voltage at controller
connections. If no voltage, check
master switch, all battery connections
and main fuse. Repair as necessary.
Raise and support vehicle with rear tires
off ground and check voltage to motor
at motor side of contactor and controller
motor negative terminals with switch set
to high and accelerator pedal
depressed. Voltage should rise as
pedal is depressed. If voltage present
and motor will not run, check for locked
brakes or drive axle. If wheels rotate
free, replace motor.
Test accelerator pot (refer to Section 5)
– replace if necessary.
Check voltage to pot. Disconnect
sensor from main harness and check
voltage at main harness connector with
switch to an on position.
White wire to black = 5V
Orange wire to Black = 5V
Orange wire to white = 0V
If no voltage present, check continuity
of main harness from pot connector to
large twist lock connector at controller
Pot Connector Large Twist Lock
Black wire to Pin 27
White wire to Pin 28
Orange wire to Pin 29
If no continuity on any wire, repair or
replace harness as needed.
If continuity is good on all wires, then
controller is most likely at fault.
Test motor contactor (refer to Section
5). Replace if necessary.
Unplug charger output connector to
controller and test operation. If motor
runs, replace charger.
