Connecting the MD
Walkman*
You can connect Sony portable minidisc
recorder/player MD Walkman with the MD
Walkman cable.
For the operations of the MD Walkman, refer
to the instructions of the MD Walkman.
Note
Do not connect the MD Walkman which is not listed
below to MD WM LINK terminal. This may cause
malfunction.
• MD Walkman models compatible with
this system.
Portable minidisc player:
MZ-E70, E45 (Hong Kong only), E55, E50,
E44, E35, E33, E32, E30, E25, EPll
Portable minidisc recorder:
MZ-R30, R35, R50, R55, R5ST (Europe
only)**
**Be sure to remove from the MD station, and
connect the MD Walkman only.
• When you connect an MD Walkman to this
system, analogue recording to the MD
starts automatically when the MD
Walkman starts playing (synchro
recording).
• MD Walkman is a trademark of Sony Corporation.

If the power is on, press | / (!) to turn
off.

Release the Digital Mega Bass
(reinforcing bass) function of the
MD Walkman.
Set DIGITAL MEGA BASS to 0 or press
DIGITAL MEGA BASS to turn off
"BASS" indicator.

Activate the AVLS (reducing the
volume) function of the MD
Walkman.
Set AVLS to "LIMIT".

Start playing MD Walkman.

Press DISPLAY on the MD
Walkman repeatedly until the
elapsed time and the track number
appears on the remote (or in the
display of the MD Walkman with
MZ-R30).
The information of the elapsed time and
the track number can be output through
the remote terminal of the MD
Walkman.

Set the volume to maximum with
the remote of the MD Walkman.

Remove the remote of the MD
Walkman, then connect to the
DHC-MDXIO.
Connect the cable so that the cylinder is
close to the MD Walkman.
Notes
• Do not place the MD Walkman on the DHC-
MDXIO. The sound may be interrupted or noise
may occur. Besides, this may cause a malfunction
of the MD Walkman.
• The sound may be distorted during playback of
the MD Walkman when the Digital Mega Bass
function is activated or the AVLS function is
released.
• Be sure to turn off the power before connecting
because noise or an incorrect operation may occur.
• The MD Walkman requires more power than
normal operation when connected to DHC-
MDXIO. Make sure that the power is left enough
before recording.
