Fertilizer
The openers can be placed in two positions - stowed and
operating.
To place in operating position, remove lynch pin and handle
from opener. Pull up on opener slightly, then guide tee into
the groove. Lower the opener until the tee rests in the front
groove position. Install handle into front hole position. Install
lynch pin to lock in place.
Reverse the above procedure to return to stowed position.
Position fertilizer openers according to IS847 to place
fertilizer no closer than 2" to either side of row. Fertilizer
depth is adjustable from 2.5" to 4.5" when planter frame is
level and at proper 24" operating height. Soil conditions can
affect depth slightly.
NOTE: Spring pressure is not adjustable. Opener is designed to operate with the gauge wheels as a depth
stop and spring up when encountering a foreign object or hard ground.
Down pressure spring is factory preset at approximately 300 lb (136 kg).
