RS-232 Communication - Tab 11
repeat any RS-232 transmission, which is received through the RS-232 I/O port.
6. RS-232 Feedback Selection (Continuous Reply):
Disabled (Default)= No BKC-DIP Update or Reply is generated.
Update = An Update message, which represents the specific current state of the CT Receiver, is sent when
there is a change in a logical zone’s state. Then, the CT receiver must be polled to determine the current sta-
tus.
Reply = When feedback selection set to “REPLY”, the CT Receiver will automatically generate BKC-DIP reply
messages to allow unsolicited continuous feedback to the external controller. Whenever a change is executed
in a logical zone, a BKC-DIP reply message will automatically be generated. The reply message represents
the new state of the affected logical zone. I.e. System change to Volume, Bass, Treble, EQ, Source and/or
Tuner Frequency.
Typical format example of a BKC-DIP Reply :
The CT Receiver will automatically generates BKC-DIP Reply message whenever a master volume change is
seen in Logical Zone 11. The reply message is “(0,R,P0B=FF,01=60;)”. Logical Zone 11’s current Preset
Parameter Volume value is set to 60 hex or 0dB (assuming 0dB is the current setting).
“0” is the transmit ID
“R” is the BKC-DIP Reply message.
“P0B=FF” is the BKC-DIP command for the current preset in logical Zone 11 (0B=11).
“01=60” is the current preset parameter 01 (Volume), is set to the Hex value 60 (volume 0dB ).
All (Both) = Outputs both BKC-DIP Update and BKC-DIP Reply message.
7. V2.0 Enabled:
Allows for more advanced BKC-DIP control of the Receivers including preset parameters.
8. Convert IR to BKC-DIP Messages:
When enabled, the CT Receiver will convert and repeat the B & K IR commands into RS-232. The RS-232
message is repeated out to the RS-232 I/O RJ-45. This may be used for a system with B & K Home Theater
components. These relayed IR commands may simply connect to a home theater without creating an IR loop.
9. Transmit BKC-DIP to Zones:
When a zone is enabled, the CT Receiver will repeat any BKC-DIP messages via that zone's RS-232 port
(labeled “RS-232 XMIT” on the CT back panel). When a zone is disabled, the zones RS-232 port will not
repeat auto BKC-DIP commands through its transmit port. Zone status feedback, zone input synchronization,
and serial macros will continue to operate for any zone even though the zone’s RS-232 XMIT being disabled.
This setting does not apply to the Serial Macro Editor. See page 61 for more information.
10. BKC-DIP Transmit ID:
Select which ID is in use for communication with another B&K product, or select Global (ALL). If you select
Global(ALL) all connected B & K products will be controlled. However, if you select the ID of a specific B & K
product, only that product will be controlled. This is useful if several B & K products are interconnected for
other purposes. The transmit ID corresponds to the receive ID you used in the setup process of the other
B&K product.
