Enabling
Failover and
Synchronized
Data Store
Optionally, you can enable failover support and data store synchronization in the
Setup: Advanced Networking - Failover Settings page:
Failover Support. Failover support ensures continued optimization if there is a
failure with one of the HP EFS WAN Accelerators. If the master HP EFS WAN
Accelerator fails, the traffic is automatically processed by the backup HP EFS
WAN Accelerator.
IMPORTANT: To enable failover support you specify the in-path IP address for the HP EFS
WAN Accelerator, not the Primary interface IP address. For detailed information, see
In-Path Interfaces” on page 49
NOTE: If you have an out-of-path configuration with failover support, you must specify the
master and backup HP EFS WAN Accelerators in the Setup: Optimization Service - In-Path
Rules page. For detailed information, see
“Setting In-Path Rules” on page 26
.
Automatic Data Store Synchronization. Automatic data store synchronization
automatically copies the data store from the master to the backup HP EFS WAN
Accelerator in a failover configuration. The HP EFS WAN Accelerator
automatically detects changes in the master (or primary) HP EFS WAN
Accelerator data store and copies the changes to the backup HP EFS WAN
Accelerator without disrupting end users. The backup HP EFS WAN Accelerator
must have a clean data store before it is initialized for replication and
synchronization. You must enable failover support to implement data store
synchronization.
IMPORTANT: To enable data store synchronization you must specify the Primary (or AUX if
you have enabled this option) IP address for the HP EFS WAN Accelerator, not the in-path IP
address. For detailed information, see
“Setting the Primary Interface” on page 47
IMPORTANT: The backup HP EFS WAN Accelerator must have a clean data store before it
is initialized for replication and synchronization.
