Turning on the Power
If you turn on the power switch and the date/time/zone setting screen
appears, see page 43 to set the date/time/zone.

still photos.

> : The camera is turned off and does
not function. Set the power switch
to this position when not using the
camera.
Automatic Sensor Cleaning
z Whenever you set the power switch to <
1
> or <
2
>, sensor
cleaning will be performed automatically. (A small sound may be heard.)
During the sensor cleaning, the LCD monitor will display < f >.
z Even during the sensor cleaning, if you press the shutter button halfway
( = 50), cleaning operation will be stopped, and you can take a
picture immediately.
z If you repeatedly turn the power switch <
1
> and <
2
> at a short
interval, the < f > icon may not be displayed. This is normal and not a
malfunction.
Auto Power Off
To save battery power, if the camera is not operated for a prolonged period,
the power will turn off automatically after the time set under [ 5 : Auto
power off] ( = 261). To turn on the camera again, just press the shutter
button halfway ( = 50).
z If you set the power switch to < 2 > while an image is being recorded to
the card, [Saving...] will be displayed and the power will turn off after the
recording finishes.
