Enable MLD snooping for the VLAN.

Determine the ACL used as the IPv6 multicast group filter.

Determine the maximum number of IPv6 multicast groups that a port can join.

Configuring an IPv6 multicast group filter

When you configure an IPv6 multicast group filter, follow these guidelines:

This configuration takes effect for the IPv6 multicast groups that the port dynamically joins. If you
configure the port as a static member port for an IPv6 multicast group, this configuration does not

take effect for the IPv6 multicast group.

You can configure an IPv6 multicast filter either for the current port in proper interface view or
globally for all ports in MLD-snooping view. If the configurations are made in both interface view
and MLD-snooping view, the configuration made in interface view takes priority.

Configuring an IPv6 multicast group filter globally

Step Command

Remarks

1.

Enter system view.

system-view N/A

2.

Enter MLD-snooping view.

mld-snooping

N/A

3.

Configure an IPv6 multicast

group filter globally.

group-policy acl6-number [ vlan
vlan-list ]

By default, no IPv6 multicast group
filter is configured. A host can join
any valid IPv6 multicast group.

Configuring an IPv6 multicast group filter on a port

Step Command

Remarks

1.

Enter system view.

2.

Enter Layer 2 Ethernet

interface view or Layer 2
aggregate interface view.

3.

Configure an IPv6 multicast

group filter for the port.

mld-snooping group-policy
acl6-number [ vlan vlan-list ]

By default, no IPv6 multicast group
filter is configured for the port. The

hosts on this port can join any valid

IPv6 multicast group.

Configuring IPv6 multicast source port filtering

If the IPv6 multicast source port filtering feature is enabled on a port, the port can only connect to IPv6

multicast receivers rather than multicast sources. The port denies all IPv6 multicast data packets but it
permits multicast protocol packets.
If this feature is disabled, you can connect the port to either multicast sources or IPv6 multicast receivers.
You can enable multicast source port filtering either for the specified ports in MLD-snooping view or for

the current port in interface view. The two configurations have the same have the same priority level.
