2.2 Installing the CPA ISSPA Into a Rack Enclosure
The CPA ISSPA is designed to be rack-mounted in a standard 19-inch (480 mm) wide rack or
cabinet (Figure 2-1). Handles at the front of the ISSPA facilitate easy installation into and
removal from the rack.
Use, as required:
•
A user-supplied standard rack-mounted shelf (standalone only);
•
User-supplied screws to secure the front panel to the rack enclosure threaded front
mounting rails;
•
Comtech EF Data’s optional FP/SL0004, FP/SL0006, FP/SL0007, or FP/SL0008 Bearingless
Rack Slide Set (Figure 2-2).
When mounting the ISSPA into a rack enclosure:
•
PROPER GROUNDING PROTECTION IS REQUIRED. The equipment must be
connected to the protective earth connection at all times. It is therefore imperative
that the unit is properly grounded, using the ground stud provided on the unit rear
panel, during installation, configuration, and operation.
•
PROPER AIR VENTILATION IS REQUIRED. In a rack system where there is high
heat discharge, provide forced-air cooling with top- or bottom-mounted fans or
blowers.
o
Two internally mounted exhaust fans provide cooling – cool air is taken in
through the front panel and exhausted out the rear panel. Locate the CPA
so that the input and output airflow paths are not obstructed or
restricted – this will minimize the amplifier operating temperature.
o
Air temperature inside the rack enclosure should
never
exceed 50
°
C
(122
°
F).
